NEW Rehabilitation options to suit ALL ages and ALL abilities!
The sun of spring is starting to peep its’ head, lockdowns are becoming a thing of the past (hopefully) and we are all looking to spend some more time outdoors!
Get Set Physiotherapy is introducing a new outdoor rehabilitation space on-site at our Doncaster East branch and we have been receiving some fantastic feedback from children and parents alike.
In the last few months, we have been putting together a covered, outdoor space for exercise and rehab use targeted mainly for toddlers, children, and adolescents to provide a more engaging and fun experience with their physiotherapy and rehabilitation needs. The space accommodates for those with existing disabilities that may affect attention and mental capacity requiring greater stimulus to participate in physical activity. We also provide rehabilitation and exercise solutions for those with physical disabilities that affect movement patterns, gross motor development, balance and direct muscle and joint conditions.
Common presentations we see in the clinic that benefit from the use of a tactile, playground-like environment for rehabilitation and exercise include:
Toddlers, children, and adolescents with learning disabilities (e.g., ADHD, Prader-Willi, Traumatic brain injury, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome)
Cerebral Palsy
Muscular Dystrophy
Multiple Sclerosis
Spina Bifida
Spinal Cord injury
The outdoor rehabilitation area features an array of child-safe equipment used to assess and treat gross motor pattern developmental milestones among other physical conditions. We assess smooth head, torso, leg, and arm movement, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, running, balance, climbing, throwing, kicking, steps, ladders and many more functional tasks.
